I and 3 others stayed in Reykjavik for one night, and this place fit the bill both literally and figuratively. Considering its position (just a 10 minute's walk to Hallgrímskirkja and 15 minute's walk to the Harpa Concert Hall and thus the main downtown area) and the price compared to other 4-star hotels in the area, the Center Hotels Laugavegur was just right. The room (a standard double room) was spacious and the beds were comfortable. The only small complaint would be for the bathroom (see below). The breakfast was plentiful with lots of variety - I did miss the bacon though! I think one of the best things here was the staff. They were super helpful in more than one occasion. I was able to book a taxi in advance through them to get from RKV airport to the hotel, and then a taxi on very short notice from the hotel to the BSI bus terminal after missing our shuttle connection. Speaking of which, one tip for travellers: if you book the hotel pick up shuttle service in addition to the Bus transfer from BSI to KEF airport, be on the look out for a REYKJAVIK EXCURSIONS minibus! FLYBUS is the name of the airport transfer from BSI, but the shuttle bus that takes you to BSI will have a REYKJAVIK EXCURSIONS logo on it. We didn't know this, so when we saw the shuttle bus outside the hotel, we ignored it thinking it was a tour bus. Just something to keep in mind.

The hotel was immaculately clean and they had thought of everything. Shower caps, vanity kits, sewing kits all supplied. The room was cleaned every day and bedding refreshed every 3 (or sooner by request). All the staff were friendly and helpful. The location was ideal for trips (huge bus stop outside) and also an easy walk into the centre and to the port. The hotel was modern and had plenty of food options. The lockable luggage storage was especially useful for a later flight home. WiFi was strong in the room and the TV had all the normal channels. Overall can't really fault. The only thing I'd have liked is for bacon and sausage at breakfast each day as opposed to alternate days but that really is being picky!

The main draw here is the location - set at the end of Reykjavik's main shopping street, Laugavegur, this is an ideal location for exploring the city. One of the main bus stops is also right out of the front door, making it convenient to be picked up for tours. We stayed on the top (4th) floor and had amazing views of the water and mountains across the bay from our balcony, though you wouldn't have these on lower floors. Value for money was good for Iceland. There is a reasonably priced restaurant connected next door, and even though the main restaurant (Loa) was pretty expensive it looked great. Overall a fantastic place to stay.

The location on the main shopping/dining street was perfect for our first stay in Reykjavik. Convenient to walk to all of the main sites we wanted to visit. Right next to a main bus stop. And easy for tour buses to find for picking us up on our day trips. The staff was friendly. The room was a bit on the smallish size but standard for Europe. It was nice to have the sink separate from the toilet/shower area. Blackout curtains were great! The breakfast options were ample with both hot and cold items available and everything was yummy.

The hotel is right on main shopping/entertainment street - Laugavegur, at the north end. The room/beds were very clean and comfortable. Bathroom perfect. Staff were super helpful and friendly. Two restaurants connect to hotel lobby. There are unlimited choices for eating, drinking or shopping nearby. The breakfast was good.
